The Daughters of Donk McDougal
[Superior, IA] The Little Swan Lake Winery is proud to present the premier production of "The Daughters of Donk McDougal." Reservations are available through the winery at 712 858-4592.
"The Daughters of Donk McDougal," by author Mark Joenks, is a classic mid western comedy with big laughs and some tender moments. The Little Swan Lake Winery is the perfect location to stage an evening of dinner theater with Donk. Set in his cabin in the woods, Donk tries to raise his three daughters the best he can, but his backwoods philosophies clash with the changing world around him. As his twin daughters' prom and graduation approach Donk's life is spun out of control by one twin's affection for a new game warden, the youngest daughter's imaginary friend, and an alleged mountain lion roaming the woods.
Mark Joenks is a local playwright from the Rossie area. He has been active in both community theater and writing for over a dozen years. "The Daughters of Donk McDougal" began its life three years ago. In that three years, the story has been shaped by feedback from a public reading, a staged reading, and several private readings. Over that time twelve different actors plus numerous friends and supporters helped bring "The Daughters of Donk McDougal" to life -- a fact for which the playwright is eternally grateful.
"The Daughters of Donk McDougal" runs June 13th and 14th. The house opens at 6:45pm with dinner served at 7:00pm. The show begins at 7:30pm. Reservations are available at the winery by calling 712 858-4592. The Little Swan Lake Winery is located two miles north of Superior. Tickets are $20 with the meal included.
